Patchett Ag Air 2015 Ltd is a New Zealand-based fixed-wing topdressing and spraying company. The company commenced operations in the Marlborough region in the early 90s. In 2015 Nigel and Nikki Griffith purchased the company after Nigel was trained by the company founder, Ray (Razor) Patchett. Nigel has been flying since an early age and has always been passionate about agricultural aviation.
With our Safety management system certification, Pip Foster has come on board as safety manager. Pip is from a farming family and brings a great new dimension to our team.
The company operated two GA200C Fatman aircraft for several years, along with a Cessna 185 for training purposes. With minimal dual aircraft available for training in NZ, the 185 proved a great asset. The Fatman operated in Marlborough since 1994 and suited the local environment well. The slower speed, as compared with the big turbine ag-aircraft, allowed for a more even and accurate spread.
Starting in early 2025, Patchett Ag-Air began using a Canadian-built DHC-2 Beaver aircraft ZK-BVA, powered by a 450 hp Pratt and Whitney Wasp radial. Company operator Nigel Griffith has found the Beaver to be precisely what he needed to expand on the work already being carried out with the Fatman and as a result, both GA200Cs have now been sold and a second Beaver, ZK-AZB has been acquired. The Beavers also offer the ability to fly with a second pilot alongside, allowing for training, and Nigel also finds the Beaver to be able to operate very accurately and Patchett Ag-Air prides itself on accuracy.
