Not only are the Marlborough Lines Classic Fighters team 'Putting on the Ritz' this Easter, they are shaking it up! Traditionally, Saturday and Sunday, the primary flying days, while not identical, have been similar. The exception was on Sunday, when 'props' were sacrificed (e.g. blown up) for a showstopping finale!
In 2025, the team are taking a different approach with several unique displays each day. You can still see all your favourite machines, but no two days will be the same! Here's what you can expect this Easter Weekend at the Marlborough Lines Classic Fighters Airshow.
Day One: Good Friday - Practice Flying & Twilight Extreme
The first day of the air show is an excellent opportunity to examine aircraft and classic cars closely, minus the crowds. The food, entertainment and trade sites are open for business while aircraft fly overhead, perfecting their displays! At 4pm, the formal part of the day kicks off with the Twilight Extreme. A long-time favourite with families, we liken this to a Hollywood blockbuster movie trailer: action, some whimsy, music and a spectacular fireworks display!
Day Two: Saturday - Flying & Scenarios
Saturday is pure Classic Fighters. Travel through time from the pioneers of aviation and the glamorous Golden Age. Thrill as Warbirds mount an airfield attack right through to modern marvels. However, the action won't just be in the sky; the airfield will be transformed into the Pacific with some of the biggest and most impressive props yet. You will only see these once. Why, you ask? Because we are blowing them up, of course!
Day Three: Sunday - Big Bangers & Party Tricks
From 10 am to 12 noon, it's back-to-back flying displays! There are no interruptions, just pure adrenaline, action-packed flying. After a short break for lunch, it's time for "Smoke & Mirrors", when we bring out the 'party’ tricks. Flying is not enough; each display must be 'extra'. Aerobatics, formation flying, smoke trails, folding wings, and waterbombs- the bigger, the better! We love a grand finale, so stay until the end; we promise you won't regret it.
In an exciting first for Classic Fighters, airshow attendees get to vote LIVE for their favourite flying display in the People's Choice Award. This interactive element ensures that you're not just a spectator but an active participant in the event. While the team gets the glory, one lucky voter will win a trial flight from the Marlborough Aero Club and exclusive Classic Fighters Merchandise.
